Problem With Dog Hair?

I have a 1 year old female Jack Russell and she loses a lot of hair. We live in Scotland, UK so it's cold. I've brushed her with a comb about 4 times this week for about an hour each time. I just brushed her a couple of hours ago and there's still lots of hair coming out. Is there anything else i can do?

Look for the Furminator. It's a fancy brush that really cuts down on shedding.

i own a jack russell myself...there is not too much you can do abou it....you can find special combs for this tipe of hair at a pet store....other than that there is not much you can do....

make sure you are feeding her a high quality food as this will help along with supplementing it with a little olive or fish oils

Maybe take her to the groomer for a little pampering, they'll be able to (temporarily) help the situation, and even give you some pro tips on how to manage it.

Get a shedding blade- you should be able to find them at your local pet store or online. Use the shedding place at least every other day. Just using a comb only gets that hair that's already out. The shedding blade will help pull out the loose hair as well.

Past that, she's going to shed. Sorry.

Define a lot of hair? How much is a lot? While shedding is normal for dogs, excessive shedding is not. Why not make an appointment with your dog to have an evaluation, just in case it is something more serious. Someone who can see your dog is best able to diagnose any problems.
